May Curriculum
For May’s Curriculum, will be focusing on Spring, Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, Butterflies, Fruits, Birds, Gardening, and studying Central America. We will also have new songs to sing, books to read, and art projects.

Courtyard Classroom
We have received all of the pieces of our child-sized furniture for our courtyard classroom. We will begin stocking the area with Montessori sensorial, practical life, and art materials beginning with the June curriculum set. It is important to remind your child, when the materials are setup in the courtyard classroom, they are not to start working with the materials until they have come inside, had their hands washed and temperature checked for safety. Also for the safety of the children we will not begin the day on the patio, as we need to make sure all students have arrived and are securely indoors so I can lock the outer patio gate while we are in the front courtyard. We have two cantilever umbrellas that will be built, and placed at both front corners for shade. We are excited to begin having the children enjoy the courtyard classroom.

New Hours Beginning in June
June will begin our Summer/School Year, 22-23 new prices and hours. To be able to enjoy our indoor, courtyard, and outdoor areas please bring your child between 8:30am - 8:45am daily. Morning class will continue to end at 11:45am with staggered pick-ups accommodated until 12noon. Our School Day class will end at 3:30pm with staggered pick-ups accommodated until 3:45pm. At 3:46pm, $2/minute late fees will apply. By following the new drop off and pick up windows we hope to maximize the educational curriculum we provide. We look forward to our 26th school year in West Roseville.

Wipes Needed
Please bring 2-4 packages of Huggies brand wipes or Kirkland (Costco) unscented wipes. We have not asked for wipes since last September, 2021. Thank you very much!

May Curriculum Songs ~ Woodcreek Montessori School
Mother’s Day Song
Sing to: “You are my Sunshine”
I love you Mommy
My dearest Mommy
You make me happy
When I am sad
I want to tell you
I really love you
When I’m with you, I’m so glad !

Hurray for May Day
Sing to: “London Bridges”
May Day’s here with sun so bright
Sun so bright, sun so bright.
May Day’s here with sun so bright,
Hurray for May Day.
May Day’s here with flowers in bloom,
Flowers in bloom, flowers in bloom.
May Day’s here with flowers in bloom,
Hurray for May Day.

Butterfly Chant
A burst of Blue,
A shock of Green,
A flap of wings is all that’s seen.
A flutter in the flower beds,
A burst of Blue,
A bit of Red,
A whisper as it flutters by,
You’re oh so pretty, Butterfly.

Fuzzy Wuzzy Caterpillar
Fuzzy wuzzy caterpillar in the garden creeps
He spins himself a blanket and soon falls fast asleep.
Fuzzy wuzzy caterpillar wakes up by and by
To find he has wings of beauty, changed to a butterfly.
Pretty little butterfly, what do you do all day?
I fly around the flowerpots, nothing to do but play.
Nothing to do but play darling, nothing to do but play.
So fly butterfly, fly butterfly, don’t waste your time away.

Little Butterfly
Sing to: “I’m a Little Teapot”
I’m a little Butterfly
I have wings
I fly around
And see all things.
When I see a flower
That looks great
I call out
To all of my mates.

Oh Butterfly
Sing to: “Oh Christmas Tree”
Oh butterfly, Oh butterfly
How I love your colors.
Oh butterfly, Oh butterfly
How I love your colors.
You fly so high and beautiful,
Your so soft and gentle.
Oh butterfly, Oh butterfly
How I love your colors.

The Fuzzy Caterpillar
Once there was a caterpillar fuzzy as can be
He ate and ate and ate all the new green leaves.
And when he was finished and could eat no more,
He made himself a chrysalis that didn’t have a door.
While inside this chrysalis, he began to change,
The fuzzy caterpillar would never be the same.
After seven days, he broke out and my oh my,
The caterpillar he had been was now a butterfly.

Spring Time
Sing to: “Did you ever see a Lassie?”
My- eyes can see it’s springtime, it’s springtime, it’s springtime.
My- eyes can see it’s springtime, the grass is so green!
The green grass, the flowers, the sunshine and showers.
My- eyes can see it’s springtime, and I am so glad.
My- ears can hear it’s springtime, it’s springtime, it’s springtime.
My- ears can hear it’s springtime, the birds sweetly sing!
The birds sing, the lambs bleat, the frogs croak, the bees buzz.
My- ears can hear it’s springtime, and I am so glad.
My- body can feel it’s springtime, it’s springtime, it’s springtime.
My- body can feel it’s springtime, the air is so warm!
The warm air, the breezes, no frost, and no freezes.
My- body can feel it’s springtime, and I am so glad.

Spring Song
Sing to: “Are you Sleeping”
I see Robins, I see birds nests
Butterflies too, flowers too
Everything is growing
The wind is gently blowing
Spring is here, Spring is here

Big Green Bananas
I walked through the jungle
And what did I see?
Big green bananas, hanging on a tree.
I chopped down a bunch
And set them in the sun.
When they turned yellow, I ate every one!

Strawberry Patch
(Tune: Paw Paw Patch)
Where oh where are all the children?
Where oh where are all the children?
Where oh where are all the children?
Way down yonder in the strawberry patch.
Pickin' up strawberries, put 'em in the basket,
Pickin' up strawberries, put 'em in the basket,
Pickin' up strawberries, put 'em in the basket,
Way down yonder in the strawberry patch.
Take the berries home and wash em up
Take the berries home and wash em up
Take the berries home and wash em up
Way down yonder in the strawberry patch!
Slice the berries up and make a pie.
Slice the berries up and make a pie.
Slice the berries up and make a pie.
Way down yonder in the strawberry patch!
