Covid-19 Policies and Protocols Effective 12/1/22
(excerpted, condensed, and amended from original document, Parent Handbook)

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and 2022 Fall/Winter Cold/Flu Season -  we will continue to follow protocol guidelines by the Community Care Licensing Division, follow closely the Placer County Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control.
Hours of Operation
  • Office hours - Monday thru Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm.
  • Morning Class: 8:30am - 12noon
  • School Day Class: 8:30am - 3:30pm

Arrival Front Porch/Patio Drop off 8:30AM -
  • The large whiteboard sign will serve as up-to-date communication. Required licensing documentation and any Covid-19 Policies/Protocols will be clipped to the back of the whiteboard.
  • If you see another family dropping off between the front pillars and front porch area, please give them physical distance (6 ft or more) so they may drop off their child(ren). We are limiting the front porch access for parent/family contact to 15 minutes to limit our school’s potential exposure to Covid-19.
  • Children must wear socks in our environment at all times to safeguard from illness. Bare feet in the classroom are not allowed.

Upon Arrival into the Classroom - Each child will have their temperature taken to assess wellness to attend class. All children must have a temperature under 100.0°F (per CDC, CDPH, and CCLD requirements) and no cold or flu symptoms. Children will wash and sanitize their hands before playing in the classroom.

Daily Washing & Sanitizing of all educational materials in the Indoor Classroom and all picnic tables, chairs, and large equipment on the Outdoor Playground before children arrive.

All meals are served Outside under a sheltered metal shade structure with fans for the summer and a freestanding heater for the winter. Extra tables and chairs have been added to allow additional distancing of children eating their meals safely.

Daily Departure 12noon & 3:30PM -
  • Daily pick up window will be 15 minutes before we close (11:45am - 12noon and 3:15pm - 3:30pm).
  • Please do not pick up during the window of 12noon - 2pm as children will be resting/napping.
  • We will utilize the camera on the ring doorbell to announce your arrival, please do not ring the doorbell unless we are visibly outside. Please be mindful of other families and allow physical distancing.
  • Shoes will remain outside on front porch to reduce the contaminant level in the classroom (unless children are outside playing at pick up).
  • I ask that you remain at the pillar to allow safe distancing to communicate with me about your child’s day. I will then close the door so you can place their shoes on.

Calling In Sick/Vacation - If you are NOT going to be bringing your child to school, please call, message or email before 8:00am on the day of the absence to let us know. Due to Covid-19 we are required to know why your child will not be attending. We worry about you and your child when you do not call. If you are going on a Vacation and plan to be gone for several days please let us know as well.

Children Wearing Masks - CA State Licensing, CDC, and CDPH Dept of Public Health continue to recommend indoor masking. Parents will decide if they would like their student to wear a mask while inside the classroom to reduce their chance of potential exposure Covid-19 virus. Children wearing face masks are highly supervised to ensure their safety and they are only worn during indoor classroom activities, not during outdoor activities, napping, or eating meals.

Teachers Wearing Masks/Vaccines - All teachers in the Montessori environment have received C-19 vaccines and boosters to be up to date with their immunity to the virus in additional to all other vaccines required to be in the presence of children. Teachers will continue to wear a face mask while inside the classroom, however they will no longer be wearing masks outside.

Covid-19 School Closure
In the event of a positive Covid-19 documented person:
  • When a student tests positive for Covid-19, they will need to quarantine until they no longer have any symptoms and have a negative test, typically 5-10 days.
  • If a parent or older sibling of a student is quarantined due to a Covid-19 exposure, all children living in their home will need to stay home from school until all members of  the household do not have any Covid symptoms, and all persons within the residence test negative for C19.

Health and Sick Policy
All students and parents must have their health assessed at home daily to ensure all persons are well to be in group settings (whether that be work for parents or preschool for children).

Sick Persons:
Students with these symptoms may have COVID-19 and will need to stay home from preschool:
  • Fever (over 99F)
  • Chills and/or Headache
  • Cough and/or Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue and/or Muscle or body aches
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat, Congestion, and/or Runny Nose
  • Nausea, Vomiting, and/or Diarrhea

In addition all children must remain home from school if they exhibit these symptoms:
  • Rash - raised bumps that blister will need to quarantine from school and cannot return without a Dr's note
  • Lice and/or Nits - automatic 5 school day quarantine to kill the cycle of lice to stop spread to other children

Everyone should stay home if they are sick and tested negative for covid-19 until:
At least 2 days (48 hours) have passed since fever stopped without the use of fever-reducing medications and improvement in additional symptoms of any kind. We have a zero tolerance for any symptoms that may mimic cold and flu, that includes cough and runny nose. Children with a cough or runny nose cannot attend. Children with a lingering occasional cough may attend wearing a face mask for all indoor activities. Continuous coughing means a child is unable to take a full breath and needs to be seen by their pediatrician to rule out asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, or other lung considerations.

Allergies - If a student has acute - medically diagnosed - seasonal allergies (watery eyes and sneezing with or without nasal discharge) the parents must medicate the student on a daily allergy medication to alleviate the student's symptoms or continue to wear a mask to stop the spread of mucus from sneezing.

Absence due to Covid - Due to the ongoing pandemic, we cannot credit tuition during any future exposures or illnesses. Our goal is to remain open, and provide the cleanest, most sanitary place for your child to attend. However we cannot predict when a child may become sick in the future when they are not exhibiting symptoms at the time of attendance. Our tuition is highly competitive, and we must have timely tuition payments during absences for illness. Please know we are doing everything within our power to keep all students healthy and safe from illness. We appreciate you understanding this challenging time.

UVC Light Room Sterilizers - Two hospital grade UVC sterilizers are run nightly to destroy surface level germs in the classroom environment.

Air Purifiers - In the classroom we have a Dyson Glass HEPA room air purifier with cryptomic technology to capture all volatile organic compounds. It removes 99.9% of all allergens and pollutions as small as 0.3 microns to improve our classroom air quality.
