April Curriculum
For April’s Curriculum, will be focusing on Spring, Rabbits, Chickens, Eggs, Flowers, and Western Europe. We will also have new songs to sing, books to read, and curriculum related crafts and worksheets.

Priority Registration
Most of the Priority Registration forms for Summer 2022 and the 2022 - 2023 School Year have been received, and they are due by Friday, 4/1. Thank you for helping us plan our Summer and Fall enrollment. I will send out information in your May tuition statement to confirm the priority registration and the increase in tuition cost so you can be prepared. We will begin closing at 3:30pm (grace period to 3:45pm) in June, so please adjust your pick-up timing if necessary.

April Information Update
Allergy Season
Please continue to use allergy medicine (Claritin, Zyrtec, Allegra, etc) if your child is having watery eyes, itchy nose, and/or sneezing. If your child has allergies, they will be asked to wear a mask at school to contain any sneezing indoors. A runny nose and/or cough is not allowed at school, so you will need to monitor your child’s symptoms closely to make sure they are feeling well to attend school. If your child has cold/flu symptoms, please do not bring them to school. We must safeguard the health of all students and teachers. Our goal is to keep the school open and clear of illness.

Outdoor Classroom
We will set up the outdoor classroom for sensorial, art, botany, and practical life activities beginning in June. Placer County Office of Education - Early Quality Matters, gifted our preschool a Lakeshore Learning grant for outdoor shelving and an outdoor art painting easel. We will also be adding a Crate and Barrel metal and wood sensory table, a Community Playthings wood project table with benches, and two cantilever umbrellas for full shade. The outdoor classroom will be offered in the morning hours of the summer to beat the heat and provide a third element of education to add to our indoor classroom, and outdoor playground. We are very excited to add this new addition to our curriculum.

April Curriculum Songs ~ Woodcreek Montessori School
Welcome Everyone
Tune: “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”
Welcome, welcome everyone.
It is time to have some fun.
First we’ll put our coats away,
Then we’ll start our busy day.
Welcome, welcome everyone.
I’m so glad that you have come!

Five Little Eggs
Five little Easter eggs, lovely colors wore;
Mother ate the blue one, then there were four.
Four little Easter eggs, two and two you see;
Daddy ate the red one, then there were three.
Three little Easter eggs, before I knew;
Sister ate the yellow one, then there were two.
Two little Easter eggs, oh what fun!
Brother ate the purple one, then there was one.
One little Easter egg, see me run!
I ate the last one, then there was none.

The Bunny Fingerplay
Here is a bunny (make a bunny with hand)
With ears so funny (wiggle ears)
And this is her hole in the ground (make hole with hand)
When a noise she hears (listen intently)
She pricks up her ears (straighten ears)
And jumps in her hole in the ground (bunny jumps in hole)

Rabbit Doesn’t Have a Tail at All
Tune: “London Bridges”
Rabbit doesn’t have a tail at all
Tail at all, a tail at all.
Rabbit doesn’t have a tail at all
Just a powder puff.
His ears are longer than his tail
Than his tail, than his tail
His ears are longer than his tail
It’s a powder puff

April Rain
Rain has such fun in April, it patters thru the trees.
Talking to all the leaf buds, and robins that it sees.
It splashes through the puddles, and skips along the walks.
Goes coasting down the grass blades, and dandelion stalks
It dips in all the flowers, and when the clouds blow by
It paints with flower colors, a rainbow in the sky.

Spring Rain Song
Put up your umbrella,
When the rain comes down.
Wear a happy smile,
And wipe away a frown.
Splash in all the puddles,
And do a little dance.
Rain is just the thing we need,
For new spring plants.

Bunnies Surprise
Tune: “Eensy Weensy Spider”
Once there was a bunny
Who hopped around the town.
He brought colored eggs
And laid them on the ground.
When the children woke up,
They had a big surprise.
Lots of pretty eggs
Right before their eyes.

Sing a Song of Flowers
Sung to: “Sing a Song of Sixpence”
Sing a song of flowers, flowers all around.
Flowers that are growing, growing in the ground.
Flowers of each color make a pretty view.
Red and orange and yellow.
And blue and purple too.

Ten Little Chicks
Five eggs and five eggs, (hold up ten fingers)
That makes ten.
Sitting on top is the mother hen. (cover one hand with the other)
Crack, crack, crack, (clap 3 times) What do I see?
Ten little chicks,
As cute as can be! (Hold up ten fingers)

I'm a Little Chick
Tune: “I'm a Little Teapot”
I'm a little chick, that’s yellow and soft.
I was born, in a high hayloft.
I play all day and I cheep, cheep, cheep.
Then back to the barn, where I sleep, sleep, sleep.
