(excerpted, condensed, and amended from original document, Parent Handbook)
Hours of Operation
Arrival Front Porch/Patio Drop off
Upon Arrival into the Classroom
Each child will have their temperature taken to assess wellness to attend class. All children must have a temperature under 100.0°F to attend preschool. Children will wash and sanitize their hands before playing in the classroom.
Daily Departure 12noon & 3:30pm
Calling In Sick/Vacation
If you are NOT going to be bringing your child to school, please call, message or email before 8:00am on the day of the absence to let us know. We worry about you and your child when you do not call. If you are going on a Vacation and plan to be gone for several days please let us know that as well.
Masking in the Classroom
A mask must be worn consecutively for 5 days if your child has been exposed to a person who has tested positive for COVID-19. Teachers will wear Indoor masks based on classroom risk (ie, cold/flu/allergy season - teachers may be wearing a mask).
Health and Sick Policy
All children and parents must assess their health at home daily to ensure all persons are well to be in group settings (whether that be work for parents or preschool for children).
Students with these symptoms may have a transmittable illness/disease and will need to stay home from preschool:
Everyone should stay home if they are sick until:
At least 2 days (48 hours) have passed since fever stopped without the use of fever-reducing medications and improvement in additional symptoms of any kind. We have a zero tolerance for any symptoms that may mimic cold and flu, that includes cough and runny nose. Children with a cough or runny nose cannot attend.
Covid-19/RSV/Influenza A or B/Hand Foot Mouth - In the event of a positive virus documented person:
When a student tests positive for a communicable illness, they will need to quarantine until they no longer have any contagious symptoms, typically 5 - 10 days depending on the illness. If a person that resides in the home (sibling/parent) tests positive for Covid-19, the student must stay home for 5 days or until all members of the family - residing in the home having direct contact with, and including the student - have tested negative for C-19.
In the event of a common cold illness:
Students must remain home until contagious symptoms are no longer present. Please do not bring your child to school with a runny nose, cough, or congestion. If a child has a productive cough more than 2x in an hour or a runny nose that is discolored (green/yellow), we recommend they stay home to reduce spread of symptoms to other students and teachers. If a child is feeling under the weather, it is best they stay home, drink lots of fluids and rest their body to get well.
Allergies
If a child has acute - medically diagnosed - seasonal allergies (watery eyes and sneezing with or without clear nasal discharge) the parent can medicate the child on a daily allergy medication to alleviate the child’s symptoms or the child can wear a mask to stop the spread of mucus from sneezing/allergy coughing. Excessive mucus coming from the nose may require the child to remain home if the mucus must be wiped more than 4x per hour.
Asthma
It is crucial to safeguard a child from having an asthma attack as it can quickly become a life threatening situation. If your child is on preventative daily medication, please make sure it is in their backpack as needed, communicate with staff as to the last time the child received a dose, and how often a re-occurring dose will be needed of the medication to stabilize their breathing during active and quiet play.
Absence due to Illnesses
We cannot credit tuition during any future exposures or illnesses. Our goal is to remain open, and provide the cleanest, most sanitary place for your child to attend. By keeping your child home when they have an illness you are safeguarding the other students and teachers from passing that illness to others thereby shortening the transmission of the illness. Thank you for understanding!
Air Purifiers
In the classroom we have a Dyson Glass HEPA room air purifier with cryptomic technology to capture all volatile organic compounds. It removes 99.9% of all allergens and pollutions as small as 0.3 microns to improve our classroom air quality.
Whole House Fan
At the top of the ceiling to all of the adjoining rooms, we have a whole house fan that we run after the children have left for the day. This will help purify the air and exchange fresh outdoor air for stagnant indoor air that may harbor illness and germs.
