January Curriculum
For January’s Curriculum, will be focusing on Winter, Antarctica, Arctic Animals, Martin Luther King, Transportation Vehicles, Community Helpers, Safety and Street Signs. We will also have new songs to sing, books to read, curriculum related art and letter writing activities. Excursions for January Since we are studying transportation and winter, here are a couple of fun excursions. For transportation, one of the places you might consider visiting is the California Railroad Museum (http://www.csrmf.org). They are open daily 10am - 5pm, and showcase the history of the Railroad in Sacramento, with 21 restored locomotives and cars. For Winter snow play, a place that might be fun to visit is Soda Springs, up Interstate 80 in the mountains (http://www.skisodasprings.com). They offer tube sledding and a specialized snowboard/ski area for children under 8 years old. January Information Update An updated Covid-19 Protocol will be provided to all enrolled families who must read and acknowledge they have received it. The updated Covid-19 Protocols will be located for public viewing on the back of the white A-frame in the front entry drop off and pick up area. If a member of your family becomes exposed to the Covid-19 virus, your child cannot attend school and must self-quarantine for 5 days from their last date of exposure to the positive test individual (https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/s1227-isolation-quarantine-guidance.html). If your child develops symptoms within those 5 days they cannot return to school until all symptoms are no longer present. If a student exposes other students within our classroom environment within 48 hours of a positive test, we will have to close our school for 5 days to stop the spread of the virus. We are unable to credit tuition for school closures due to quarantine requirements issued by the California Department of Public Health. California Department of Social Services - Community Care Licensing, requires everyone over 2 years of age must wear a mask in a regulated licensed childcare setting. To comply with this decree, all children must arrive to school each day with a mask on before entering our facility. If your child does not have a mask upon arrival, a surgical disposable child sized mask will be provided for your child to enter our indoor environment. Here is the document requiring masks of all children over 2 years old in childcare facilities: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/Portals/9/CCLD/PINs/2021/CCP/PIN-21-29-CCP.pdf. This attachment was also provided with the 12/1/21 newsletter. Per the document, only children with a “written statement signed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or other licensed medical professional practicing under the license of a physician, stating the individual qualifies for the exemption” may be allowed to not wear a mask. If your child does not have a written medical exemption on file with our school, they must wear a mask while in our CA licensed childcare facility. I must legally follow the requirements set forth by the State of CA to remain within compliance for my licensed childcare facility. https://www.facebook.com/woodcreek.montessori.preschool January Curriculum Songs ~ Woodcreek Montessori School Cheer the Year Sing to “Row, row, row your boat” Cheer, cheer, cheer the year, A new one’s just begun.
